my daughter outgrew her pink and purple “girly” stage this last year and wanted a coat to look more put together and styled. This coat is a perfect compromise between a black or brown “adult” type of coat and a kids coat. It’s perfect for a burgeoning tween or teen. It still has the stripes of pink and white on the sleeves to help break up the coat with some color but beyond that it’s a nice deep blue and looks grown up while still looking a bit playful. My daughter is a tall and already developing 9 year old. She usually wears a size up with an 11/12 but the sizing is a bit different where I ordered a 12/14 which I think is about the same as an 11/12 depending on the brand. Anyways it fit a little long in the sleeves but that’s exactly as I expected. I try to order up so she could get another year out of it and with Nauticas usual quality I expect her to. So I found it to be pretty close to an accurate sizing. The coat hits about mid thigh-closer to her knees than waist but I did size up so that may be a bit different with your child.The coat feels thick enough to withstand a Wisconsin winter and has a nice faux fur hood to keep the snow out. I had her put the coat on and it looked really flattering and I almost wish they had one for adults! ;-) it came within two days of me ordering it and was well packaged. I will update further on in the winter if the coat has any issues or isn’t as warm as it looks but for now it looks and feels high quality and warm.Two thumbs up!
