I love love love this coat!!!This coat is one of the many mid-length, black, down-filled coats on the market. Among the features I like are:-its light weight (great for traveling, especially if you find yourself carrying the coat through an airport)-its shape (I am on the petite side, and the XS hits just above my knees, and the overall shape of the coat is gently A-line rather than a box)- its hood (it take a very strong wind in just the right direction to blow the hood down, something that is not a given in all similar-looking coats; you do not need a hat if you wear the hood -- it is that good)- its neck (fully zipped, it does not feel like it's strangling you -- which is a good thing, because the hood stays up better when the coat is fully zipped)- its warmth (although the arms seem not as giving of warmth as the rest of the coat, this might even be an advantage if you are engaged in a heat-generating activity such as shoveling)- perfectly placed deep pockets that close via zipperThe two downsides, both minor:- the color options are limited (when I ordered, the coat was available only in black, although red existed at least in theory; would love to see this in navy or a leafy green)- the zipper sometimes catches (to prevent this, zip up slowly, taking care to keep the opposite sides of the coat from collapsing on the zipper when you zip up; I almost returned the coat because of this problem, until I figured out how to prevent it)This parka is very functional, well-made, and warm. The pockets are lined with felt for extra warmth and zip closed to keep items secure. The oversized hood is great for keeping snow and wind away from your face and you can adjust the depth of the hood with a snap closure. Hood stays secure with bungee ties. Overall, a very good value.I only gave it four stars due to the sizing; it runs small. I am 5' 3" and weigh 130 lbs. Normally I would wear a medium in a coat, but I ordered a large based on comments and I'm glad I did. It fits well with a fleece and shirt underneath. The look is basic, not very stylish, but as I said, warm and functional. I would have liked more pockets; maybe one or two inside.I want a warm jacket for cold winter. This one is too thin, so I returned. This coat is perfect for my needs. I have one other Helly Hansen, so I knew going in that they are cut a bit slim. I wear a large in clothing but need a winter coat that fits comfortably over sweaters, etc. so I bought an xxl. It worked out perfectly. This coat is lightweight but really warm, and covers my thighs. The reason why I took off one star is because it doesn't have any nice upgrades like my other HH jacket - there is no inside pocket, no upper outside pocket, no sleeve extension with thumbholes. These little extras really make me love my other jacket. Just a little top pocket for the cell phone would have made a huge difference. The color is awesome, rich and bright. I have to walk students out to wait for buses daily in the northeast so I will get a ton of use out of this coat! This coat came just in time! The weather has been bitter cold all week, and I've been perfectly comfortable while outside. It's a good length - easy to get in an out of a car, but long enough to provide extra warmth. It's warm but not too bulky. The shoulders and arms fit well, too, so I can wear a mid-weight sweater under it and still move comfortably. My only complaints are that the cuffs seem sort of awkward - there's a snap to tighten them, but I'd prefer an inner cuff. Also the pockets almost look like they're sewn on backwards. Because the flaps face forward, I've already had them catch on my car door handle. I actually checked the image online to see if mine was defective, but it appears that they come that way. Otherwise, though, I'm very happy with this coat.So far have worn it mostly in temps in the 30s and it works really well, especially if there is wind. Better than any other winter coat I have owned. I’m 5’6 and 125 and an XS fits me very well, though the sleeves could be a bit longer. The hood is honestly the best part of the coat - I have a lot of hair and my biggest pet peeve is when hoods are not large enough to stay put over my head/hair in the wind, but this hood does not move whatsoever.I love this jacket! I ordered it along with the North Face ThermoBall Parka and Gotham Parka. ThermoBall was far too shiny and lightweight, felt more faddish than functional, while Gotham also felt too lightweight and fabric didn't feel like it would repel rain. I really liked the fur on this jacket, plus it was very very warm. It felt like a parka should. I am 5'4 and this comes right above my knee. The fabric repels rain well. I wear an L but ordered XL as I often will wear a hoodie or thick sweater layers. XL has been perfect for that need so if you tend to wear thicker layers I would suggest a size up. I wanted something more on the athletic/practical side than fashionable and I feel like this meets the practical needs while not being ugly either. I do wish the pocket opening was larger.Bought for just under £100 for a trip to Iceland and well worth what I spent. I looked around for similar jackets/parkas but all were at least £150. This jacket is amazing value for money.PROS- It's warm! I spent a lot of time outside during my time in Iceland in March and it keep me warm throughout.- Removable fur on the hood is great so you don't need to worry about that getting wet when it's raining or snowing.- It's light even though it looks fairly puffy.- The red colour isn't too bright but looks great in photographs.- Good if you have long arms/body.- Pockets are a good size even though there's only two.CONS- It is waterproof but the outer surface does stay kinda wet and water isn't easy to brush off. It still keeps you dry though.- Could have more pockets on the inside100% would recommend to a friend.I am very disappointed with this coat/jacket. It was described as waterproof by the seller. I was soaked through in 1.5h not so heavy rain. It is warmish. Its quite short, and i'm only 158cm/5,2. I bought size M and I find it quite small , i'm 57kg normally UK size 10. Yes, the pockets are very small. For me it ticks none of the boxes for winter coat that I wanted, such a waste of money. I should have checked Helly Hansen website as on there it does say that it is only water resistant. This is a nice fitting coat and fairly warm. I have a North Face waterproof down jacket which is much warmer but not as flattering so that's been used for dog walking on these cold days. Bought this for 'NOT dog walking' but I never feel as warm as The North Face one.It is definitely windproof and I've been out in the rain a couple of times and it doesn't seem to come through. There are no cuffs on the sleeves, only poppers to tighten - which are a bit pants - but then I complain about the cuffs on The North Face one as they are very tight and catch on your watch! Never happy! It looks smart and as flattering as these types of coats can be. The sleeves are a good length.I'm a 10/12, 5ft 8" and I've bought the S Size and it fits well with room for warm layers underneath. For a Helly Hansen, I expected more.Outer fabric feels a bit cheap & no waterproof.Time will tellLovely coat, warm and cosy in bad weather. Bought size 10, my usual size and it fits perfectly with room for extra layers if needed. I am 5 ft 4 and it comes to mid thighs. Fur hood is extra protection from wind and rain and can be detached. Perfect all round winter coat.
